All-State high school player from Maumelle signs with Lyon College Scot women

BATESVILLE, Ark. – Maumelle High School (Ark.) soccer standout Elyse Albright, who earned all-state status her junior year, has signed a NAIA letter of intent to attend Lyon College in the fall and become a member of the Scots women’s soccer program, according to Lyon head coach Ben Parman.

Albright attended North Little Rock High School, along with MHS, lettering in girls soccer for four straight seasons. She was a named all-conference her freshman through junior seasons and stepped her play up a notch last season, as she garnered all-state honors as a member of the Lady Hornets in 2012. The postseason honors for 2013 have yet to be announced.

Parman said he has been watching the high school career of Albright closely.

“I have been following and recruiting Elyse for the past three years,” the Scots coach stated. “I have seen consistent improvement in her game as a player, and I only see her potential for improvement to continue to increase as she makes the move to a college player.

“Elyse is very driven and is an extremely hard-working athlete. I look for her to come in and compete for playing time and a starting spot in our midfield.”

During her all-state junior season, Albright averaged three goals per contest for Maumelle.

Elyse is the daughter of Mark and Kimberly Albright.

Albright will join the Scots team this fall that is coming off a 7-11-1 record from a year ago, including a fourth-place finish in the American Midwest Conference, posting a 5-3 mark. Lyon College had only three seniors in 2012 and return 18 lettermen, including 15 freshmen, off that team.

Lyon opens the 2013 season at home on Aug. 23 at home against Central Baptist College.
