A five-game home schedule, including five Great American Conference games in Carpenter-Haygood Stadium, highlights the 2014 Henderson State University football schedule.

Henderson State will begin its quest for a third straight GAC title when the Reddies open the season against Southern Nazarene in Bethany, Okla. on Sept. 6 with kickoff set for 6 p.m.

The Reddies have won both meetings against SNU including an 82-10 win last season in a game that saw Henderson total 855 yards of offense. The 2014 contest will mark the first time Henderson has played in Bethany.

The Reddies will then travel to Thibodaux, La. to take on NCAA Division I FCS opponent Nicholls State on Sept. 13. The Colonels, members of the Southland Conference, plays the University of Arkansas the week prior to playing their home opener against the Reddies. It will be the first meeting between the two schools.

Henderson State will play its home opener on Sept. 20 when the Reddies face Southeastern Oklahoma. Henderson State has an 18-6 series lead over the Storm including a 44-35 win last year.

After hosting East Central Oklahoma the past three seasons, the Reddies will travel to Ada, Okla. on Sept. 27. It will be the first time since 1991 the Reddies have played in Ada. Henderson State has won four straight games over the Tigers and leads the all-time series 14-10-1.

The 18th Annual Reddie Hall of Honor ceremonies will take place Oct. 4 as the Reddies host Northwestern Oklahoma State. The Hall of Honor ceremony is set to begin at 11 a.m. with kickoff against the Rangers at 3 p.m.

Weatherford, Okla. will be Henderson’s next destination as the Reddies face Southwestern Oklahoma on Oct. 11 beginning at 6 p.m. Last year the Reddies beat the Bulldogs 45-17. HSU has a 4-2 record against the Bulldogs with SWOSU being the only team to ever beat the Reddies in GAC play.

Henderson State’s final five games of the regular-season will be against GAC opponents from Arkansas with the Reddies traveling to Russellville to face Arkansas Tech on Oct. 18 with kickoff set for 2 p.m.

The Reddies tied the all-time series with the Wonder Boys at 42-42-5 by winning last year’s game 45-14.

Henderson State will play three of its last four games of the season at Carpenter-Haygood Stadium beginning with an Oct. 25 meeting against Harding for homecoming.

Numerous alumni functions and events surround the weekend including the annual “H” Club Golf Tournament on Friday. Kickoff against the Bisons is slated for 3 p.m.

The Reddies lead the all-time series with the Bisons 31-17-1 including a 45-30 win last year in Searcy. It will be Harding’s first game in Carpenter-Haygood Stadium since 2010.

On Nov. 1, the Reddies will play host to Arkansas-Monticello with kickoff set for 3 p.m. The Reddies improved their series lead over UAM to 44-30-2 with a 37-21 win last year in Monticello, Ark.

Henderson will make its final road trip of the season on Nov. 8 when the Reddies travel to Magnolia, Ark. to take on Southern Arkansas.
The Reddies have won the last seven meetings against the Muleriders including a 66-24 win last year. Henderson leads the all-time series 42-33-2.

The regular-season culminates with the 88th Battle of the Ravine on Nov. 15 at Carpenter-Haygood Stadium. Kickoff for one of the most unique games in the country is set for 3 p.m.

The Reddies recorded a thrilling 60-52 triple-overtime win last year to take a 42-39-6 advantage in the series. The win was Henderson’s fourth straight over the Tigers.
