Sources Confirm A-State Hires Harsin New Head Coach Of The Red Wolves

Well-placed sources with ties to Arkansas State University told Sporting Life Arkansas earlier tonight that Bryan Harsin, University Texas offensive coordinator, would be named the new head coach of the Red Wolves. As new information has come to Sporting Life Arkansas throughout the evening, it appeared that wasn’t the case.

We have now been told that Arkansas State will announce the hire officially tomorrow.

His salary in in Austin for 2012 was $675,000. Malzahn made a reported $850,000 at Arkansas State.

Harsin has been at Texas for the past two years and was offensive coordinator at Boise State University before that. Harsin was quarterback at Boise State.

Technically, Harsin is co-coordinator at Texas, but he works with the quarterbacks, calls plays and faces the media.

His first year in Austin, the Longhorns had the No. 54 total offense, but improved to No. 37 in 2012.
