Team Notes:

The No. 15 Arkansas baseball team went 3-2 on the week. The Razorbacks swept a midweek series against Alabama A&M and dropped two of three games to Ole Miss in a hard fought series to open Southeastern Conference play. Arkansas is now 14-7 on the season and 1-2 in SEC play. Arkansas hit .299 on the week, while the pitching staff had a team ERA of 2.02. For the season, the Razorbacks are hitting .284 as a team and the pitching staff has a 1.81 team ERA. Joe Serrano led the Razorbacks at the plate during the week, going 7-for-15 with four RBI and four runs scored. Matt Vinson hit .389 (7-for-18) with three RBI and a pair of runs, while Jacob Mahan went 6-for-18 with two RBI and eight runs scored. Brian Anderson batted .318 with six RBI and six runs scored. Jordan Farris went 4-for-8 at the plate with two RBI and three runs scored. Jacob Morris hit .364 with three RBI and seven runs scored. On the mound, Landon Simpson pitched in a pair of games and tossed eight scoreless innings, striking out nine. Jalen Beeks pitched in three games and did not allow a run in 4.1 innings of work. Randall Fant earned his first win of the season in the middle game of the Ole Miss series, throwing six innings and allowing a run on five hits. Thomas Altimont and Colby Suggs each had two scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Chris Oliver started on Wednesday vs. Alabama A&M and struck out five over three shutout frames. Brandon Moore only allowed two unearned runs on one hit and struck out five over six innings, while Trent Daniel, Michael Gunn and Tyler Wright each had one scoreless outing in relief. Arkansas returns to action next weekend when it resumes SEC play at No. 6 South Carolina. Game times for the weekend series are set for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, 2:15 p.m. on Saturday and 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. Friday’s game will be televised by CSS, while Saturday’s game will air on FSN.
