ARLINGTON, Texas. (2/3/13) – The Arkansas State women’s bowling team took home third place in the Prairie View A&M Invitational on Sunday. The Red Wolves went 10-3 on the weekend and improved to 45-18 on the season.

A-State dropped its first match of the day 4-1 to Prairie View A&M in the last round-robin match despite knocking down more pins total. ASU entered the bracket play as the No. 1 seed and played the No. 4 seed Nebraska. The Red Wolves were defeated by Nebraska 4-3 and fell to the third place game against Vanderbilt. Arkansas State lost the first two games of the match, but rallied to win four in a row to capture third place.

“Losing to Prairie View was unfortunate because of the format,” ASU bowling coach Justin Kostick said. “We took Nebraska to seven games in a really good match and did really well to come back and win third place against Vanderbilt. 10-3 on the weekend is good with some really impressive wins over ranked teams and we really dominated this tournament. Congrats to Ashley Rucker for making the all-tournament team and it was big for her and Sarah Lokker to perform as well as they did in front of Team USA coaches.”

A-State returns to action Feb. 15-17 in the Morgan State Invitational at Baltimore, Md.
