JONESBORO, Ark. (1/15/13) – The Arkansas State volleyball program has added transfer setter Jackie Gerig from LSU and she will be eligible for the 2013 season as announced by head coach David Rehr on Tuesday.

Gerig will join the 2013 Red Wolves after appearing in 12 games and earning two starts for the 2012 Tigers. Gerig transferred to LSU from Blinn College where she was coached by Rehr in 2010 and 2011. While at Blinn, Gerig was a two-time NJCAA All-American as a setter. She was second-team in 2010 and earned a first-team selection in 2011 as she became only the second player in Blinn’s program history to earn multiple NJCAA All-American honors. Gerig was third in the NJCAA with 11.04 assists per game as she helped lead Blinn to a 38-0 record and 2011 NJCAA Division I National Championship.

“We’re very excited to add Jackie to our team,” Rehr said. “Having coached her for two years I know that we added a quality student-athlete to our program and an excellent player to our team.”

Gerig will join four other newcomers on the 2013 Red Wolves. A-State returns nine players from a squad that went 19-14 overall and 8-6 in Sun Belt matches with their first postseason win, a 3-1 victory over UALR in the conference tournament, since 2000.
