Cotton Blossoms Softball Team Wraps up 7-State Classic with Split

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team closed out the 7-State Classic on Sunday with an 8-5 win over Concordia-St. Paul followed by a 4-2, eight-inning loss to No. 18 Emporia State. 

Junior Beth Johnson hit two homeruns in the win over Concordia-St. Paul, while senior Randa Perry hit a two-run single late in the loss to 18th-ranked Emporia State to send the game into extra innings. After ESU scored twice in the top of the eighth, UAM had runners on second and third with only one out, but the Cotton Blossoms were unable to push any runs across to suffer the loss.

The Cotton Blossoms went 4-4 in the 7-State Classic to give the team a 10-6 overall record heading into its conference-opening series next weekend (February 22-23) at home against Southern Nazarene.
