Walnut Ridge, Ark. – A low scoring basketball game between the Spartans of Missouri Baptist University and the Eagles of Williams Baptist College saw the Spartans edge WBC 59-55 Saturday. The American Midwest Conference contest was played in St. Louis, Mo., on the MBU campus.

The first half was a defensive battle, as neither team could get the ball in the basket. The teams went to the break tied at 15 apiece. Both offenses would pick up the pace in the second half, but the Spartans pulled in front of the Eagles for the four point victory.

Chase Norwood’s 10 points and 11 rebounds gave him his third double-double for the Eagles on the season. Kyle Harvey led all scorers with 20 points, and he was also able to garner seven rebounds in the contest.

The Williams loss drops them to 3-3 in the AMC and 12-7 overall. They are in a three way tie for fourth place in the conference.

The Eagles will jump back on the court for an AMC matchup at Benedictine-Springfield University on Thursday, January 24 at 7:30 p.m., in Springfield, Ill. Following that game, they will return home to host Harris-Stowe State University at 4 p.m., on Saturday, January 26.
