CONWAY, Ark. – Harding sophomore Ewa Zaborowska won the 1,500 meters with an NCAA provisional qualifying time and was one of three individual event winners for the Lady Bisons at the 2013 UCA Open. Harding also won the 4×400-meter relay.

Zaborowska, a native of Wejherowo, Poland, defeated 23 other runners in the 1,500 meters, winning in 4 minutes, 29.82 seconds, the second-fastest time in the event in Division II this season. It was her third career victory in four races in the 1,500 meters.

Senior Portia Bell won the 400 meters in 56.37, breaking the 22-year-old school record of 57.70 set by Lori Wright in 1991. It was the first time Bell had raced collegiately in the outdoor 400 meters.

Harding’s other event winner was sophomore Dallis Bailey in the 800 meters. Bailey earned her first collegiate victory with a time of 2:16.00, topping 22 other competitors.

The 4×400-meter relay team of Lydia Gordon, Shana Holmes, Kristen Celsor, and Bell also broke a school record in winning the event in 3:52.82. The old record of 3:58.23 has held since 1997.

Harding’s top finish in the field events came from freshman Rachael Domeyer, who finished second in the javelin with a throw of 113 feet, 5 inches.

Harding will next be in action on Saturday, April 6 as it hosts the Bison Challenge at First Security Stadium.
