Walnut Ridge, Ark. – The seniors of Williams Baptist College led the Eagles to a 79-65 victory over the Hornets from Harris-Stowe University on Saturday. The game was played in Walnut Ridge, and the home crowd came away impressed as the Eagles earned their 14th win of the season.

Six Eagles combined to score all 79 points for the Eagles, and they were all seniors. Kyle Harvey led the team with 30 points, followed by Phillip Sykes with 18, Rashad Danzy with 11, Chase Norwood with nine, Zabian Sanders with eight and Maurice Templeton with three.

“We have relied heavily on our seniors this year and with eight minutes remaining I told them, ‘focus and push through to the finish line’,” said Head Coach Josh Austin.

Another big reason for the victory was Williams’ ability to keep hold of the ball. They turned the ball over a season low seven times in the contest. “We took care of the ball in the game, and when we don’t turn it over, we have a good chance of getting the result,” added Austin.

Norwood added 11 rebounds with his nine points, and Harvey collected nine. The team totaled 49 with 21 coming on the offensive end.

WBC shot 41 percent from the floor, making 29-of-71 shots. They held the Hornets to 26-of-66 for 39 percent.

The Eagles improved their record to 14-7 overall and 5-3 in the American Midwest Conference. They currently sit in a three-way tie for third place in the conference. They will travel to the top ranked Cougars of Columbia College on Thursday, January 31. They will return home to host Lyon College at 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 2.
