Kyle Harvey of Williams Baptist College Snags AMC Player of the Week Honors

St. Louis, Mo. – Williams Baptist College forward Kyle Harvey has been named this week’s American Midwest Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Harvey, a senior from Corning, Ark., currently leads the AMC in points and rebounds. At 19.33 points per game and 8.19 rebounds per game the 6-5 Harvey ranks 18th and 15th in the NAIA, respectively. He improved his averages last week, scoring a total of 59 points in two contests for a 29.5 point per game average.

In a 69-57 win over Benedictine-Springfield on Thursday, Harvey scored 29 points and grabbed six rebound while playing all 40 minutes of the contest. He shot 50 percent from the field and was five-for-seven from beyond the arc.

The momentum of Thursday night helped carry the Eagles over the Hornets of Harris-Stowe on Saturday by a score of 79-65. Harvey chipped in 30 points and nine rebounds as well as three blocks in the win. On the week the senior shot 49 percent from the field and was perfect from the charity stripe, going 10-for-10.

Harvey holds six top-25 rankings in the NAIA currently, including a No. 4 rank in defensive rebounds per contest. The Eagles are 14-7 on the season and currently sit in a three-way tie for third place in the AMC standings at 5-3. They return to the hardwood on Thursday, January 31st when they face the Columbia Cougars in Columbia, Mo.
