ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Lyon College senior guard Phage Altom (Bald Knob, Ark.) averaged 13 points per game and led the Scots to a perfect week in the AMC, helping take command of the top spot in the American Midwest Conference women’s basketball standings, earning AMC Player of the Week honors Monday afternoon.

Altom began the week with an 11-point, four-rebound non-conference outing in an 86-56 win over Ecclesia College, making four of her nine attempts from the floor with a three. That game was the first of back-to-back six-assist games, producing six more assists Thursday night in a conference win over Park.

She had 14 points and four rebounds against the Pirates, adding four steals, while also hitting 5-of-6 from the foul line.

Altom’s most important performance of the week came on the road Saturday when the 19th-ranked Scots upset No. 16 William Woods in Fulton. Altom scored 14 with six rebounds and three steals, going 4-of-12 from the floor while hitting two attempts from beyond the 3-point arc. She was 4-of-6 at the foul line, finishing the week 11-of-15 (73.3-percent) at the free-throw stripe.

This is the second AMC Player of the Week honor for Altom this season and fifth time she’s been nominated by the honor. Altom received POW recognition after the week of Nov. 12-18.

Lyon, now 14-2, is tied with Columbia College atop the AMC women’s basketball standings at 4-0. The Owls close a three-game week against the Cougars on Saturday in Batesville after traveling Tuesday to Missouri Baptist and hosting Benedictine-Springfield Thursday night.
