HOT SPRINGS, AR  – Zayat Stable’s homebred Brewing made the successful jump from maiden winner to stakes winner with his front running victory in Saturday’s $100,000 Gazebo Stakes.

Ridden by Jon Court, Brewing was the quickest away from the gate and never looked back. He was hardly challenged as he proceeded through fractions of :21 4/5 and :45 3/5 for the first half mile before drawing off in the stretch to win by three lengths over the fast closing Big Sugar Soda. The Maimonides colt completed the six-furlong race in 1:10 2/5 over a wet-fast track.

“Jon (Court) gave him a great ride,” said winning trainer D. Wayne Lukas. “The race worked out perfectly. This is a gutsy little horse.”

Brewing has now won two of six races and has earned $94,931. He returned $8.80, $4.80 and $3.60 as the 3-1 second choice in the eight horse field. Bagg O’Day and Boji Moon scratched.

Condo Closing finished third and stumbled shortly after the wire, unseating jockey Alex Canchari, who was conscience and moving his extremities, but was taken to Mercy Hospital for observation. Guns Loaded, Speightsong, 5-2 favorite Kendall’s Boy, Dunkin Bend and Mister Pollard completed the order of finish.
