Occasional Countdown to Kickoff – Darren McFadden

Razorback Darren McFadden

Watching highlights of Darren McFadden help us. As we count down the weeks and days until the start of the college football season, we thought it would be fun to provide an occasional look at some great games of the past. If you’re like some of us, anything we can do to get a football fix until the real season starts helps with the withdrawals we face this time of year.

You can see the first post here – the Razorbacks whipping the Longhorns in Fayetteville in 1981.

And here is a classic coach’s show featuring Larry Lacewell, is available by clicking this link.

We featured the wonderful 1978 Orange Bowl game between the Arkansas Razorbacks and Oklahoma Sooners here.

In another installment, we featured actual game footage from Jonesboro High School football games from the 1960s and 1970s.

We shared the highlight reel of Matt Jones who was was one heckuva quarterback for the Arkansas Razorbacks – not just good, but fast.

Last week we have a sampling OBU Tigers football pictures from a collection put together by theOuachita Tigers Gridiron Club. And what a collection and blast from the past these fantastic pictures are.

So here you go football fans. The seventh “Occasional Countdown to Kickoff.”

Razorback Darren McFadden

Darren McFadden was a beast for the Arkansas Razorbacks.

We were reminded of greatness on the field once more this week when it was announced he remains the only player in the SEC since 2000 to garner unanimous votes for the All-SEC Preseason first team.

Imagine that. Not Tim Tebow, not Cam Newton, not Jadeveon Clowney, not Johnny Manziel, not anybody else. Darren McFadden, a two-time Heisman trophy runner-up, stands alone.

And before we get to the highlight reel, we thought we would pass along a note announcing Darren McFadden’s debut as a cartoon character in his role as an Oakland Raider.

RB Darren McFadden will appear in season two of NFL Rush Zone, co-produced by Nickelodeon and the NFL. NFL Rush Zone announced a 20-episode third season, NFL Rush Zone: Guardians Unleashed, the two entities jointly announced todayThe third installment of the Emmy nominated series based on NFLRUSH ZONE, the NFL’s online world for kids, debuts this fall on Nicktoons and NFL Network.
