FAYETTEVILLE – Chancellor Dave Gearhart, Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long, head football coach Bret Bielema and other representatives from the University of Arkansas traveled to Little Rock on Tuesday for Razorback Day at the Capitol.

“Razorback Day at the Capitol gives us the opportunity to say thank you to those working on behalf of all Arkansans,” Long said. “We appreciate the work of our state’s public servants and their continued support of the University of Arkansas and higher education throughout the state. Nothing brings our state together quite like the Razorbacks, so today’s festivities are a fitting way to personally applaud their efforts while celebrating what makes Arkansas special.”

The festivities in Little Rock began with a lunch featuring Governor Mike Beebe with the Razorbacks’ contingent, which also included University of Arkansas President Donald Bobbitt, UA Board of Trustees Assistant Secretary Ben Hyneman and recently crowned Miss University of Arkansas Sarah Elise Gafvert. In addition, numerous members of the state legislature were in attendance.

As part of the luncheon, Gearhart, Long and Coach Bielema spoke about the University of Arkansas and its impact on the state. Following the luncheon, the group made a short trip to the Arkansas State Capitol to join the Razorback Band and spirit squads for a pep rally in the rotunda.

Tuesday marked the third Razorback Day at the Capitol. The event began in 2009 and also was held in 2011.
