FAYETTTEVILLE– The University of Arkansas swimming and diving team earned a spot on the All-Academic Team by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America for maintaining a team GPA of a 3.0 or better throughout the fall semester.

A total of 191 women’s swimming and diving programs across the country were honored for earning a 3.0 or higher fall semester GPA. Of the 191 schools recognized, the Razorbacks ranked 20th overall with a team GPA of 3.45. Arkansas was one of just three Southeastern Conference schools to crack the top-20, with Kentucky and Alabama joining Arkansas.

“It’s great that academics are our No. 1 priority here, and it’s great for the team to have such a strong showing with a 3.45 GPA,” head coach Sean Schimmel said. “That puts them at a great ranking nationally and it’s something that we are always working on. I am proud of the effort that the team had in the fall and I’m looking for them to be even better in the spring.”

The Razorbacks were able to achieve their 3.45 GPA despite starting their season in the middle of the fall semester. Arkansas’ academic success would trickle into the pool as they kick started what would become one the top seasons in the history of the program with a 10-1 dual meet record, which matches the best in school history.
