FAYETTEVILLE – The No. 37 University of Arkansas women’s tennis team travels to Stillwater, Okla., this Sunday to compete against the No. 42 Oklahoma State Cowgirls. The Razorbacks are 4-2 on the season, and are looking to get back to their winning ways after a 4-3 loss to Yale last weekend.

“We played a really competitive and close match, which is what we need right now,” Arkansas head coach Michael Hegarty said. “With a really talented young team, we want to get on the road against some good teams and play some close matches. Those are the types of things that build a young team moving forward.”

Arkansas got singles wins from Yang Pang and Sarah McLean last weekend. Pang earned her first victory over a ranked opponent of the spring season by defeating No. 90 Madeleine Hamilton. The Razorbacks also won the doubles point for the fifth time this season, with the No. 1 duo of Claudine Paulson and Segou Jonker improving to 5-0.

Oklahoma State is 2-1 and ranked No. 42 in the NCAA. Last season the two teams played a close match in Fayetteville, with Arkansas winning 4-3.

“Oklahoma State is traditionally a strong program,” Hegarty said. “We had a close match last year, so they’ll be looking to turn the tables and we’re going to get their best shot. We enjoy playing them, and we’re expecting a good, competitive match that will help us grow as a team.”

Play begins Sunday at 1 p.m. (CST). Full recaps and results will be available online following play.
