Red Wolves continue GoDaddy Bowl Prep

JONESBORO, Ark. – The Arkansas State football team resumed its on-field preparations for the GoDaddy Bowl on Saturday (Dec. 28), and was back on the Centennial Bank Stadium field today for the second of four practices before departing for Mobile, Ala., on Jan. 1.

The Red Wolves held five practices prior to breaking for Christmas.  Yesterday’s practice was the first for A-State since Dec. 20, and the team was excited to be back on the field according to interim head coach John Thompson.

“Everyone is back with a great attitude and very hungry to go and compete for a win,” Thompson said.  “There are obviously some areas where we have to get a lot more reps, but (yesterday’s practice) was really pretty good.”

A-State took the field in full pads today at 3:15 p.m., working out in cold and windy weather conditions.  With the GoDaddy Bowl seven days away, the Red Wolves are in a game-week practice mode.

“We got a lot accomplished today, and we probably have about 15-20 percent more gameplan to install,” said Thompson.  “We’ve got it ready, but have been phasing it in and expect to have it all in place after tomorrow.”

A-State will practice again Monday and Tuesday in Jonesboro at 11:15 a.m. and depart for its third consecutive trip to the GoDaddy Bowl on Wednesday at noon.

The Red Wolves will play Mid-American Conference member Ball State in the GoDaddy Bowl, set for an 8 p.m. kickoff on Jan. 5.  Bowl tickets are only $45 per ticket when purchased through the A-State Ticket Office.

Fans can go to AStateRedWolves.com and click on ‘Bowl Game Central’ (astateredwolves.com/bowlgame) to order tickets.  The A-State Ticket Office, located at the Convocation Center’s lower red entrance, is also taking walk-up or telephone (870-972-2781) orders.
