Red Wolves Women’s Soccer Drops Road Test

STARKVILLE, Miss. — The Arkansas State Red Wolves women’s soccer team fell to Mississippi State by a score of 4-0 Sunday afternoon at the MSU Soccer Field.

The Bulldogs go two goals apiece from Elisabeth Sullivan and Annebel ten Broeke, while the Red Wolves failed to find the back of the net for the first time this season.

Mississippi State (1-1-0) got on the board in the match’s first minute when Broeke scored after dribbling in front of the A-State goalkeeper before finding open space for the game’s first goal. The Bulldogs struck again in the 14^th minute when Sullivan connected on her first goal of the game to push the advantage to 2-0.

Sullivan scored again in the 16^th minute after sending a shot past the keeper and into the back post for her second goal of the match. Broeke capped the Bulldogs’ scoring with an unassisted goal in the 58^thminute to push the advantage to four goals.

Loren Mitchell and Jordan Adams led A-State (0-1-1) with four shots each, with Adams nearly connecting on a free kick that hit the crossbar in the second half. Five different Red Wolves landed shots on goal in the game.

Freshman goalkeeper Michaela Supple made six saves in 63 minutes of action in goal, while sophomore Amanda Lee had five saves in 26 minutes of work.

The Red Wolves will return to the pitch Aug. 30 for a nonconference matchup with in-state opponent Central Arkansas. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
