SEC Tourney: Wild Pitch Gives Razorbacks Win Over Ole Miss

HOOVER, Ala. – Brian Anderson scored on a wild pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th inning Wednesday to lift the third-seeded Arkansas Razorbacks baseball team to a 2-1 win against sixth-seeded Ole Miss at the Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.

Arkansas (36-19) advances to face the winner of Wednesday’s second game between second-seeded LSU and seventh-seeded Alabama. Thursday’s contest will take place at 4:30 p.m. CT. Ole Miss (37-21) drops to the loser’s bracket, where it will face the loser between LSU and Alabama. That game will take place at 9:30 a.m. CT Thursday.

Jalen Beeks (6-1) earned the win for Arkansas, pitching 2.0 innings in relief with a pair of strikeouts. Barrett Astin started for the Razorbacks, pitching eight innings, scattering five hits and an earned run with four strikeouts.

Arkansas Razorbacks center field Matt Vinson went 3-for-5, while right fielder Tyler Spoon had the team’s lone RBI.

Ole Miss got on the board in the top half of the first inning. Tanner Mathis singled to shortstop to open the inning and came around to score on a two-out single by Stuart Turner to put the Rebels up 1-0.

Arkansas answered in its half of the first as Vinson singled through the left side with one out and was plated by an RBI single from Tyler Spoon to knot the score at 1-1.

In the bottom of the 10th inning, Anderson got on via a ground-rule double with one out. He advanced to third on a single by Dominic Ficociello and scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch.
