Torii Hunter’s Son Signs With Red Wolves

JONESBORO, Ark. (5/2/13) – Arkansas State head football coach Bryan Harsin announced Thursday that Monshadrick “Money” Hunter, a three-year varsity letterman and two-time all-district selection at Prosper (Texas) High School, has signed with the Red Wolves.

The 6-1, 180-pound safety helped lead Prosper to three consecutive playoff appearances, including the regional semifinals as a senior when the Eagles finished with a 10-3 record.  Competing on both sides of the ball, Hunter recorded 21 receptions for 265 yards and three touchdowns in 2012.

Defensively, Hunter was responsible for 58 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack, nine pass break-ups, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery.  Hunter earned first team all-district recognition for his efforts in 2012, the same year the Eagles moved up to Class 4A status.

Prosper put together a 9-3 record and advanced to the area playoffs Hunter’s junior season when he posted 26 tackles, three tackles for loss, two quarterback hurries and one pass break-up to earn all-district honors.  He helped lead the Eagles to the second round of the state playoffs as a sophomore as well.

Hunter joins A-State’s first recruiting class under Harsin after completing his final two seasons at Prosper as a starter and with a combined 84 tackles, seven tackles for loss and 10 pass break-ups.

Monshadrick “Money” Hunter is the son of All-Star Major League Baseball player and Arkansas native Torii Hunter. Monshadrick is also a starter on Prosper’s varsity baseball team.
