UALR Indoor Track and Field Teams Conclude SBC Championships

The UALR men’s and women’s indoor track teams wrapped up competition at the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Convocation Center on Monday. The Trojans earned seven top-ten finishes in the final day of competition.

The Western Kentucky men’s team and Arkansas State women’s team took home first place honors at the 2013 championships. The UALR men placed ninth after totaling 24 points in two days of action.

Shaun Koehn picked up the top UALR finish of the day by placing fourth in the finals of the men’s 5,000m run in a time of 14:53.84. Three other Trojans finished in the race’s top-20, as Brock Hime placed 10th in 15:13.81, John Vodacek placed 12th in 15:21.48 and Rodney Sasse placed 20th in 15:54.44.

The Trojans placed seventh in the finals of the 4x400m relay, as Basil Rogers, Casey Lane, Dylan Wood and Alex Ebmeyer combined to finish in 3:24.29. Rogers went on to earn three points for the Trojans by finishing sixth in the finals of the men’s 55m dash (6.56).

UALR placed 12th in the finals of the women’s 4x400m relay, as Baylee Daves, Tachara Thomas, Brittney Brasuell and Ashtin Boykin clocked in at 4:04.80.

Jason Belt placed eighth in the finals of the men’s weight throw (16.82m), and Taron Dunn placed 11th in the finals of the men’s triple jump (13.91m).

Marissa DeLaPaz placed 12th in the finals of the women’s 5,000m run in 18:15.47. Teammate Mackenzie Bloom placed 24th in 18:42.99 and Tori Copeland placed 29th in 19:02.75.

Dalton Richey placed 21st in the finals of the mile run (4:30.38). Breanne Mitchell placed 27th in the finals of the women’s mile run (5:51.05).

Alex Ebmeyer earned a fifth-place finish in the men’s 800m run in 1:58.07.

UALR will next compete at the Arkansas Last Chance meet in Fayetteville, Ark., on Friday, March 1.
