UCA Bears Golf Team Finishes Seventh at Islander Classic

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The University of Central Arkansas women’s golf team picked up two spots in the final round of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Classic on Tuesday to finish seventh at the Corpus Christi Country Club. 

Senior Julia Roth tied for ninth overall, shooting 78-76_154 in the weather-shortened tournament. Sophomore Malin Senneryd tied for 21st with rounds of 84-75_159. Freshman Sarah Brown and junior Carly Dear tied for 40th, with Brown shooting 84-80_164 and Dear posting 86-78_164. Freshman Frida Svensson shot 91-82_173 and was 66th.

Lamar won the tournament (616), followed by Oral Roberts (619), Missouri State (622), Sam Houston State (626), North Texas (631), A&M-CC (640), UCA (641), Oklahoma City (642), Houston Baptist and Bradley (648), Stephen F. Austin (651), McClennan CC (652), Texas-Pan American (673) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (687).

UCA returns to action next Monday at the Kiawah Island Classic in Charleston, S.C.
