CONWAY, Ark. _ University of Central Arkansas football players Corey Howard and Jonathan Woodard were honored on the national level this week.

Howard was named the FCS Offensive Lineman of the Year on the College Sporting News 2012 Fabulous Fifty All-America Team, while Woodard was named to the College Sports Journal FCS Freshman All-America team.

Howard, a senior from Wichita Falls, Texas, was the Southland Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year and has been named to three other All-America teams. Howard helped the Bears average 400 yards of offense last fall en route to a 9-3 record and second-round playoff appearance.

Howard was a three-year starter for the Bears and played in 46 career games at UCA, including two trips to the NCAA Division I Playoffs. He was previously named an All-American by the Walter Camp Foundation, The Sports Network and the Associated Press.

Woodard, a redshirt freshman from Brentwood, Tenn., was the SLC Freshman of the Year after finishing the season with 36 total tackles, including 11 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries and 2 forced fumbles. Woodard returned one of the fumbles 72 yards for a touchdown.

Woodard is UCA’s second player to win Freshman of the Year honors after safety Jestin Love shared the award in 2010.
