UCA Women in Ninth Place After Round 1

The University of Central Arkansas women’s golf team stands ninth after Round 1 of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Classic being played at Corpus Christi Country Club.

The Bears shot a 332 in the first round, with the second round suspended due to high winds. The tournament has been shortened to two rounds, with Round 2 beginning at 8:15 Tuesday.

Lamar and Missouri State are tied for first place at 317, North Texas (321), Oral Roberts and Sam Houston State (322), A&M-CC and Oklahoma City (325), Stephen F. Austin (330), UCA, McClennan CC (334), Houston Baptist and Bradley (337), Texas Pan American (345) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (365). 

UCA senior Julia Roth is tied for seventh place after shooting 38-40_78. Freshman Sarah Brown (40-44_84) and sophomore Malin Senneryd (41-43_84) are tied for 36th, while junior Carly Dear is tied for 51st (43-43-86). Freshman Frida Svensson is tied for 67th (41-50_90).
