WinChill Factor: Tusk vs Uga & War Memorial Be Loud & Proud

This is just one jacket’s opinion but…live mascots are the BEST.

This weekend, we have two of the finest live mascots in college football coming to venerable War Memorial Stadium – Tusk IV and Uga IX.

Let’s see how they measure up against one another based on completely subjective and admittedly random criteria:

tusk v uga

So, there you have it.  The winner of this scientific – although wee bit biased – exercise is Tusk IV!

Now it’s time to ride that momentum onto the field and get a long over-due SEC win over the Georgia Lethargic, Slobbering, Prone-to-Flatulence, Unextraordinary Mammals!

This week’s WinChill Factor is none other than War Memorial Stadium.  As some of you may recall, I have a love affair with WMS that goes back many, many years.  But let’s be realistic.  It’s 2014 and so far this season, the Hogs have played in D.W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville (a very nice and impressive college stadium) and Cowboy Stadium (arguably the most impressive facility in the world).

Now we go to WMS from which we will host the University of Georgia for the first (and likely last) time ever.  Have you wondered how the Georgia faithful are going to view War Memorial?  I mean, I love the place but it just doesn’t stack up to DWRRS or Jerry’s World or 27.8% of the high school football stadiums in Texas.

But here’s the thing:  It’s loud.  And it’s proud.

It’s kinda like that hole-in-the-wall restaurant that every town has that only the locals know about.  The type of place where the parking lot is always full and that requires effort to get there and find a table because it…is…always…crowded.  However, that effort is always worth it.  It’s a unique experience and one that will, sadly, soon go the way of the Dodo bird.  Let’s enjoy it while we can and watch the Hogs create yet another Miracle on Markham on Saturday.

Until next time:  Fear the Sleeves.

Coach Bielema’s Windbreaker made its physical presence known on August 31, 2013.  It is chock full of Razorback spirit, has an unhealthy hatred of sweater vests and fears nothing (other than a hot iron on the “Cotton/Linen” setting).  As game days approach, the Windbreaker can be found interacting with the Razorback faithful on Twitter (@BielWindbreaker).
