Angles Second, Bears Golf in Seventh After Two Rounds

CHOUDRANT, La. _ Sophomore Pep Angles is in third place and the University of Central Arkansas Bears are in seventh after two rounds of the Louisiana Tech Argent Financial Classic being played at Squire Creek.

Angles, from Barcelona, Spain, shot rounds of 70-71 for a 3-under 141 on Monday. He is five shots behind LSU’s Andrew Presley and one shot back of North Texas’ Rodolfo Cazaubon.

UCA junior Richard Farmer shot 74-77_151 and is in 30th place, while freshman James Newton is tied for 45th after rounds of 81-76_157. Senior Austen Moix is tied for 48th (83-75_158). Freshman Jacob Oaks is tied for 53rd (77-83_160).

LSU and North Texas are tied at 574, followed by Louisiana Tech (583), Texas State (594), UA-Little Rock and Southern Miss (598), UCA (601), McNeese State (602), Jacksonville State (605), Louisiana-Lafayette (611) and Missouri State (626). 

The final round will be played on Tuesday.
