Arkansas Razorback Football Team Continues Game Prep

Arkansas Razorback football team offense with Jim Chaney

Fayetteville – The University of Arkansas Razorback football team practiced Tuesday evening in preparation for its matchup Saturday against the University of Louisiana-Lafayette inside Donald W Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

Offensive Coordinator and quarterbacks coach Jim Chaney took time after practice to talk to the media about the general mood from his players during their first game week preparations.

“I sensed a quieter calm today,” Chaney said. “They are really driven and you can tell they are practicing with a purpose. It is game week, our guys have played. They understand the importance of this and the magnitude of walking into that stadium. That’s why these kids go to college and that is why we do what we do. It is a wonderful time of the year.”

Chaney knows that the first game can set the tone for the season.

“Game day adjustments on that first day are critical,” Coach Chaney said. “It will be interesting to see how we handle that.”

Mark Hudspeth, head coach of the Ragin Cajuns says his team has practiced the little things to get ready for Saturday’s game in Fayetteville.

“We ran a mock game situation today to get ready…,” Hudspeth said.  ”We practiced just about every scenario.  We practiced getting substitutions into the game, getting the special units on and off the field and we practiced sideline communications.

“We also went over a lot of unusual game situations in case we needed them,” Hudspeth added.  ”The best was the victory formation.”

“We had a pretty good camp.  The guys are ready,” Hudspeth said.  ”They were pretty focusedtoday like they have been for most of the last three weeks.

“I’m pleased that we got through camp without any season-ending injuries and we should have all of our regulars available next weekend.  We have a chance to be a pretty good team if we can continue to stay healthy,” Hudspeth added.
