Arkansas Razorbacks Football Scrimmage Produces Positives

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas Razorbacks football team continued spring practice on Saturday with a workout inside Walker Pavilion. The team started the day with practice and then had a scrimmage.

After practice, Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema spoke to the media. He talked about what he was trying to accomplish during the week of practice and the scrimmage.

“It was good to play tackle football for the first time today,” Coach Bielema said. “We want to play a physical style of football, and that all starts with today. I like how our defense was aggressive up front, and I was very impressed with some of the plays our guys made in the back end.”

Coach Bielema also talked about his roster, and the adjustments the staff has made during the first week of practice after spring break. Coach Bielema was also excited about the play of both the offensive and defensive line.

“The offensive line has a great attitude,” Coach Bielema said. “They are very coachable, and have responded very well. They have a sense of pride and have really bought in. Our defensive line is also very gifted and very physical.”

Practice continues next week with workouts scheduled for Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Arkansas’ spring practices culminate in the Red-White Spring Game, sponsored by Cox, on April 20 at 2 p.m. inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. Admission to the game is free.

On another off-season note, Bielama and the University of Arkansas are hosting another RazorRewards chance for students to win a lunch with the head Razorbacks football coach. Bielema discusses the his philosophy for the lunch with students in the short video below.
