Arkansas State Red Wolves Bowling Keeps the Lead

ARLINGTON, Texas (2/2/13) – The Arkansas State Red Wolves bowling team retained its lead at the Prairie View A&M Invitational after day two of competition.  The Red Wolves went 4-1 on the day and have a total pinfall of 8,957.

A-State began the day of traditional team matches by squaring off against No. 6 Nebraska.  The Red Wolves were able to down the Cornhuskers in a close match 944-937.  ASU faced No. 14 Norfolk State in its second match of the day and pulled out another victory by a score 898-867.  Arkansas State stumbled against No. 3 Vanderbilt in its third match losing by five pins, 997-992, but responded by taking down No. 20 Alabama State 1127-872 in its fourth match.

ASU’s fifth and final match of the day was an epic battle against No. 1 Central Missouri.  The Red Wolves and Jennies ended 10 frames tied 949-949.  The match went to a five frame Baker roll off and A-State won the match.

Junior Ashley Rucker made the all-tournament team with 1064 total pins that averaged out to 212.8 per game.  The Red Wolves finished atop the standing with 8,957 total pins with Vanderbilt finishing in second with 8,709 total pins.

A-State will enter Sunday’s Baker tournament portion as the No. 1 seed.  Action is scheduled to get underway at 8:30 a.m. and will be broadcast on www.bowl.com and their YouTube channel Bowl TV.
