California High School Standout Signs with Red Wolves Football

JONESBORO, Ark.  – Arkansas State Red Wolves head football coach Bryan Harsin announced Monday that Adam Whalen of Eastside High School in Lancaster, Calif., signed with the Red Wolves to become a part of their 2013 recruiting class.

The 6-6, 250-pound offensive lineman was a three-year varsity letterman at EHS, earning team captain honors his senior season when he was also named the squad’s MVP.  A National Underclassmen Combine (NUC) Top 100 selection, Whalen was also named the Defensive Player of the Year for his team selected to the Sports Scholarship USA (SSUSA) All-Star Game.

A two-way starter as both a junior and senior, Whalen was a First Team All-Golden League and Honorable Mention All-Antelope Valley choice as an offensive lineman in both 2011 and 2012.  In addition to playing offensive tackle for the Lions, Whalen lined up at defensive end in a starting role.

Whalen also competed in the shot put and discus events for the EHS varsity track and field team and was varsity letterman in volleyball as a senior as well.
