Coaching Search: Potential A-State Hire, Gators’ WR Coach

Pete Roussel of Coaching Search is reporting this morning that Arkansas State University Red Wolves fans should not be surprised if head coach Bryan Harsin hires Bush Hamdan, currently on the staff with the Florida Gators, as his new wide receivers coach.

His mention says:

“Don’t be surprised if Florida wide receivers coach Bush Hamden [sic] joins Bryan Harsin’s staff at Arkansas State. Joker Phillips is soon to take over for Hamden, who was elevated just before the season started with the departure of Aubrey Hill. Hamden [sic] is a former Boise State player, thus the connection to Harsin. A source tells me Hamden [sic] has spoken with Harsin.”

From the University of Florida Department of Athletics, Hamdan’s bio:

2012 Florida (Wide Receivers)
2011 Sacramento State (Tight Ends)
2010 Maryland (Intern, Offense)

Hamdan served as the Tight Ends coach at Sacramento State before joining the Gator football office in January of 2012. He also interned for the Maryland Coaching staff during the 2010 season.

Hamdan was a back-up quarterback at Boise State from 2005-08 and was awarded the 2008 Bronco Excellence Award as a senior.

The Gaithersburg, Md., native graduated from Boise State with a bachelor’s in communications in 2008. He went on to complete his master’s in athletic administration from Idaho State.

A highly-decorated high school quarterback, Hamdan was a member of the Super 44 Prep Team and All-Metro in Washington, D.C. During his prep career, he passed for more than 4,000 yards and 40 touchdowns.

His brother, Gibran, was a five-year NFL veteran and a seventh-round pick of the Washington Redskins in 2003.
