Walnut Ridge, Ark. – It has been a rough start for the Eagles, from Williams Baptist College, in the 2013 baseball season. The men played six games in their opening week and despite the team going 0-6, Kendall Fay and Tyler Williams were able to swing the bat well for the Eagles.
Evangel University swept WBC in its opening series on Tuesday, winning 2-1 and 6-7. Fay finished the series 3-of-6 with a homerun, three runs scored and one run batted in. Cody Stause pitched well for the Eagles in game one, allowing one hit in five innings of work. He only allowed two runs, while striking out seven batters. Both games were played at Shell Field, in Walnut Ridge.
Following the Evangel series, Williams traveled to Blue Mountain College for a doubleheader. They lose the first game 7-0 and the second 2-1. Again, Fay provided offense for the Eagles going 3-for-8 in the series. He collected almost half of the teams hits in the two game set. Dylan Disotell pitched well in game two for WBC. In five innings, he allowed one run and struck out nine.
The final series of the week was played on Saturday at Freed-Hardeman University. The Eagles fell in both games by the score of 3-1. Tyler Williams batted .500 from the plate on the day with one run batted in. He finished the week with a .333 batting average and three runs batted in.
Williams will jump back on the diamond on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Victory University. The doubleheader will begin at noon. Their next home game will be Friday, Feb. 15, at 1 p.m. The two game set will be against Blue Mountain College.
