Forrest of Sugar Bears Softball Wins Hitter of the Week

Freshman outfielder Sam Forrest had a huge weekend at the plate for the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears softball team, and on Tuesday afternoon, she was recognized for that weekend.

Forrest, from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, was honored as the Southland Conference’s Hitter of the Week on Tuesday. Over the course of four games at the Belmont Spring Kickoff Tournament, Forrest had an average of .563 (9-for-14) while slugging .875 and getting on base at a .563 clip. Hitting in three different lineup slots, Forrest had two doubles, one home run, two runs batted in, and four runs scored.

The award is the first of Forrest’s career. She and the Bears will look to pull some momentum from the announcement on Wednesday night, when they play a double-header in Conway against the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Lady Lions.
