Hogs Start 2015 College Football Season in Top 20

From out of nowhere, the Arkansas Razorbacks are ranked by coaches for the start of the 2015 college football season.

The Arkansas Razorbacks are ranked No. 20 in the preseason Amway Coaches Poll, released by USA Today on Thursday.

It marks the first time the Razorbacks have been nationally ranked under head coach Bret Bielema and the first time the program has earned a spot in the Amway Coaches Poll since Sept. 9, 2012 when Arkansas was ranked No. 21. The Razorbacks entered the 2012 season at No. 10 in the preseason rankings.

Arkansas has uncommon momentum going into the 2015 college football season, returning a pair of 1,000-yard rushers and a three-year starter at quarterback. Overall, the Razorbacks return 16 starters and 49 lettermen, their most returners since 2010.

In 2014, Arkansas defeated traditional powers LSU, Ole Miss and Texas for the first time in the same season in school history. The Razorbacks also became the first unranked team in college football history to shut out back-to-back ranked opponents when they blanked No. 20 LSU and No. 8 Ole Miss.

Other SEC schools in the preseason poll include Alabama at No. 3, Auburn at No. 7, Georgia at No. 9, LSU No. 13, Ole Miss No. 15, Missouri No. 23 and Tennessee No. 25
