It’s game day, people. Let’s have a blast!

11:23 a.m. — Yes, I know those previous times should have been A.M. not p.m. I hate 11:21 a.m. kickoffs. Brandon Allen, after a deflection on second down, finds a wide-open Javontee Herndon near the right hashmark in the SC zone for a big first down, a 20-yard gain. And on the very next play, Hatcher takes a pitchout on the reverse for 19 to put the ball inside the 25. Clowney appeared to be going through the motions from his DE spot.
11:21 p.m. — Arkansas will receive and defends the south goal. The Hogs wanted the ball and didn’t defer. You don’t put anything on this defense, so smart move. Keon Hatcher makes a nice return from the left side up to the 36.

I encourage fan participation. Hundreds of tickets were being held up for sale by fans outside the stadium in my walk up here an hour ago. The student section doesn’t appear that it will be full today. The one section from the 20 to the goal line is, but the other section where the band sits in the SE corner looks sparsely populated. From my vantage point, I don’t have a view at all of the upper decks or the big screen.
11:10 a.m. — Spectacular day here at Reynolds Razorback Stadium. A major lightning and thunderstorm blew through Fayetteville some time in the early morning, a little after I finally fell asleep following that incredible Cardinals-Dodgers 13-inning NLCS game won by the Redbirds 3-2. Carlos Beltran is the man; not “The Man,” as that’s Musial, but he’s the man in St. Louis today certainly. The UA band has offered up its full-of-flourish version of “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “America the Beautiful” and now brings things to a somber tone with that almost funereal UA alma mater, at least in comparison to those majestic anthems. Maybe they should play the alma mater after the game (especially the way the past three weeks have gone).
11:01 a.m. — The blog has begun!a I decided, after the near disaster of the 11:21 a.m. kickoff for Southern Mississippi when I nearly missed the kickoff because of traffic, to stay up here last night. While I’m comfortably in my seat, it appears about 45,000 Hog fans still haven’t made it to theirs. ESPN reported on “GameDay” that South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney did not take the team bus to today’s game, but he’s here and dressed and is expected to play “some,” according to Gamecocks head coach Steve Spurrier. Last week at home against Kentucky, Clowney was cleared to play despite a pulled rib muscle and the bone spur in his right foot that has troubled him early this season; however, Clowney opted out of the game just before kickoff. Spurrier was initially miffed, it appeared from his post-game comments, but they both made up nice and all was fine this week. Clowney got in some practice on Tuesday and Wednesday. Forget the ribs, that bone spur is not the easiest thing to deal with. Everyone thinks Clowney is superman based on the zillions of showings of that big bowl game hit against the Michigan running back. Band’s on the field for the pre-game, fans are trickling in, even some of the students. We’ll back back shortly.
