Walnut Ridge, Ark. – The fifth ranked Williams Baptist College softball squad had a rare off week on the diamond, but results from other American Midwest Conference games provided a big cheer for the Lady Eagles. With a combination of losses for other teams in the AMC, Williams clinched the conference regular season championship for the fourth consecutive season.

“From day one, the girls wanted this. It is gratifying for the whole squad but special praise for our seniors Karisa Hendrix, Felicia Woodard and Kacey Rasnic,” said Head Coach Eric Newell.

Hendrix and Woodard have now won at least a share of the regular season championship in each of their four years at Williams. “To go 4-for-4 is such a special accomplishment, but at the same time those are special kids so I happy for them,” added Newell.

WBC’s record is 35-3 overall and 15-1 in the AMC. The Lady Eagles have two conference games remaining at William Woods University. Those games were to be played on Monday, April 22.

“There is a sense of excitement among the team for achieving one of our goals and we are excited about Woods on Monday. Hopefully, we can keep the ball rolling,” said Newell.

The only other games remaining before the conference tournament are at Crowley’s Ridge College in Paragould, Ark. The doubleheader will be Thursday, April 25 at 3 p.m.

With the conference crown, the Lady Eagles also clinch the top seed in the AMC Tournament. The tournament will begin on Friday, April 26. The first round will be a best of three series played in Walnut Ridge at the Lady Eagle softball field. Two games will be played on Friday and a third, if necessary, on Saturday. Game times and opponent have yet to be determined.
