Walnut Ridge, Ark. – The Williams Baptist College Lady Eagles were forced to fight and comeback in both games of their opening series against Blue Mountain College. The 14th ranked Lady Eagles found a way to come out ahead, winning 5-3 and 5-4. The games were played Saturday, at Blue Mountain College.

In game one, WBC rallied from a 2-1 deficit to score four runs in the sixth to take a 5-2 lead. BMC would add a run in the sixth, but it wouldn’t be enough, as the Eagles won 5-3.

Williams trailed 4-3 entering the last inning in game two, but scored two late runs in the seventh to take the 5-4 lead. BMC threatened in the bottom of the inning, but WBC’s pitching and defense held them to win 5-4.

Senior All-American Karisa Hendrix led the squad to both victories. In the first game she pitched a complete game, allowing two earned runs while striking out 14 batters. In game two she came in from the bullpen to throw two innings, allowing just one hit and no runs. Her record now stands at 2-0 on the season.

Sophomore Shelby Anderson and senior Felicia Woodard provided the offense for the Eagles. Anderson hit a homerun in game one, going 2-for-3 from the plate and Woodard batted in two runs with one hit.

The 2-0 Lady Eagles will jump back on the diamond on Monday, Feb. 18. They will host a doubleheader against BMC beginning at 1 p.m. The games will be played at the Lady Eagles softball field in Walnut Ridge.
