Walnut Ridge, Ark. – The Lady Eagles of Williams Baptist College moved up to fourth place in the American Midwest Conference with their third straight conference victory on Saturday. The contest was played in the Southerland-Mabee Center and was a 58-47 win over the Hornets from Harris-Stowe State University.
The Williams defense held the Hornets to 29 percent shooting from the floor. A big key in the win was the battle of the boards, which WBC won 46-31. Thirty two of the Eagle’s rebounds were on the defensive end. Williams also forced 20 turnovers in the contest.
Two Eagles scored in double-figures, Tieara Burks with 11 and Cheyenne Childers with 10. Childers has now scored at least nine points in eight straight games. She also added 11 rebounds in the game for her third double-double on the season.
Williams’ record now sits at 12-9 overall and 5-4 in the AMC. They will travel to Columbia, Mo., on Thursday, January 31, to play Columbia College. Their next home game will be on Saturday, February 2, at 2 p.m.
