The UAFS women’s basketball team will finish its season on Saturday when it wraps up its road trip through the Lone Star State with a nonconference game against the McMurry War Hawks.

Tipoff will be 2 p.m. at Kimbrell Arena. Live statistics and webcast will be available.

It will be the second meeting in the all-time series between UAFS and McMurry, a provisional NCAA Division II member. McMurry is a member of the Heartland Conference but is ineligible to compete for regular-season conference title or qualify for postseason play because of its provisional status.

McMurry won the first meeting 72-69 at the Stubblefield Center on Dec. 1.

UAFS (7-18), which was the preseason favorite to win the conference title, failed to qualify for the conference tournament after reaching the championship game a year ago. The Lady Lions had only two seniors on the roster and played the last half of the season with a roster depleted by injuries.

The Lady Lions have lost two in a row and six of their past seven games. UAFS is coming off a 75-65 road loss to St. Edward’s on Thursday night in the conference finale.

UAFS is averaging 64 points per game with two players averaging double-figures in scoring – senior forward Katie BenAmor (12.9) and junior post Angi Ramey (11.3). Opponents are out-rebounding the Lady Lions by almost one rebound per game (44.5-44.3). Ramey leads the team with 10.5 rebounds per game.

The Lady Lions are allowing 68 points per game and forcing 15 turnovers per game. Freshman guard Brittany Holbert leads the team with 42 steals, while Ramey leads the team with 47 blocked shots.

McMurry (11-4) is coming off a 62-57 home win against Newman on Thursday night. The War Hawks are averaging just 59 points per game with one player averaging double-figures in scoring – junior forward Keshia Collins (13.3).

Opponents are out-rebounding McMurry by more than three rebounds per game (41.9-38.6). Freshman forward Ana Dominguez leads the team with 7.9 rebounds per game. The War Hawks are allowing 64 points per game and forcing 19 turnovers per game. Collins leads the team with 68 steals, while Dominguez leads the team with 22 blocked shots.
