Promotions Planned for ASU’s Basketball Doubleheader…

JONESBORO, Ark. (2/21/13) – The Arkansas State Athletics Department has announced some special promotions for this Saturday’s men’s and women’s basketball doubleheader against Troy. The women’s game is set to tip-off at 3:05 p.m., while the men’s game will begin at 7:05 p.m.

The women’s game has been designated as “Play 4Kay”, which is an initiative for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund charity. The players will wear pink uniforms in an effort to raise breast cancer awareness. Fans that wear pink can purchase a group rate upper-level ticket, priced at $4.00. Saturday’s game is also Senior Day for the Red Wolves and will be the final home game for seniors Ashley Olvera, Andi Watson and Quinishia McDowell.

There will also be a 4Kay Run/Walk Saturday at the Convocation Center. Registration for the race will begin at 11 a.m. with the race set to begin at noon. The entrance fee is $20 and includes a t-shirt and a ticket to the women’s basketball game later in the afternoon. Prizes will also be awarded for division winners. Sterns Race Timing will handle the timing and all proceeds will benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

The men’s game has been designated as a “Black Out” and fans wearing black can purchase a group rate upper-level ticket, priced at $5.00. There will also be a chance for ASU students, with a valid student I.D., to win cash prizes. Halftime of the game will feature a special performance from The Sky Squad Dunkers. The game will also be Senior Night for the Red Wolves and will be the final home game for seniors Trey Finn, Marcus Hooten and Brandon Peterson. 

Due to the doubleheader, fans are also asked to be aware of adjusted parking procedures for the games. The Convocation Center parking lots B through H will be reserved for those fans holding a men’s basketball parking pass, and the ASU Athletics Department will be providing a shuttle service to escort those parking in the Tomlinson Stadium lot back and forth from the Convocation Center. The shuttle service will begin at 1:45 p.m. and run throughout the day.

After the conclusion of the women’s game there will be a reception for Fast Break Club members and their guests. Following the Fast Break Club reception, the Sixth Man Club will hold their banquet at 6:00 p.m.
