Razorback Football Practice Report – Two-a-Days Start, Fan Day Set

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas Razorback football practice report shows the team began its second week of preseason camp with two practices Monday. Wide receivers coach Michael Smith and running backs coach Joel Thomas met with the media following practice and discussed the transition to two-a-days.

“We had two practices today,” Smith said. “They were long and hard practices. The kids battled through it. This morning it was a little slow, but they came out this second practice and practiced pretty well.”

Coach Thomas also talked about the need for the team to mature quickly.

“We have about twenty days to become a mature group,” Thomas said. “You aren’t going to get sympathy letters from your opponents on Saturdays that you may be young or inexperienced. That is not an excuse, we don’t have that in this room.”

The University of Arkansas football team’s annual Fan Day will take place Sunday, Aug. 18 inside Bud Walton Arena. Fan parking is available in Lots 56, 56B, 56C and 56D (directly south of Bud Walton) as well as Lot 46 (at the Dills Tennis Center) and Lot 44 in front of the Broyles Center.

The event is scheduled for 2-4 p.m. and allows fans the opportunity to meet the Razorback student-athletes and head coach Bret Bielema. In order to allow as many people through as possible, a limit of one autograph item per person will be enforced. Fans can enter from the south and west entrances and may only line up at the appropriately marked doors.

Following the Fan Day event, the Arkansas volleyball team will hold a free intrasquad scrimmage open to the public inside Barnhill Arena.

Several giveaways are planned for the Fan Day event. The first 1,000 fans will receive a Razorback t-shirt courtesy of Pepsi, while the first 5,000 fans will receive a Razorback football helmet desk schedule and key tag schedules for football, soccer and volleyball. All fans in attendance will receive a football team poster.

The Razorbacks will be placed at different locations throughout the arena with the offense located on the concourse, the defense on the perimeter of the arena floor and Coach Bielema in the museum. Select Arkansas players will also be roaming around on the arena floor.

Members of the Junior Razorback Club will receive early entry at the north entrance. In order to take advantage of this, Junior Razorback Club members must be in line by 1:45 p.m. Pre-ordered Junior Razorback Club membership packets will also be available outside the north doors, along the sidewalk. Fans can also sign up their kids for the Junior Razorback Club before the event inside the north entrance at the designated doors.

Hog Heaven will open at noon and will have the latest Nike and Razorback Collection merchandise as well as footballs and team helmets for autographs.

The Arkansas spirit squads and mascots will also be on hand for the event. Fans can get autographs from the spirit squads at the east entrance of Bud Walton Arena and photos can be taken on the southwest side of the arena floor.

Along with all the festivities inside, several activities are planned for outside Bud Walton Arena. Inflatable games and a football throw will be located near the south entrance. Water stations will be placed at the south and west entrances, while Pepsi will have sample stations near the south entrance. Tusk IV will also be on hand for the event and will be outside the south entrance beginning at noon and will have “autographed” photos for the first 500 fans who visit.
