Henderson State lost its third straight game as 17th-ranked Southern Arkansas beat the Reddies 12-7 in non-conference baseball action at Clyde Berry Field in Arkadelphia, Ark.

After Henderson State took a 5-4 lead in the third-inning, the Muleriders scored eight runs over the final five innings to improve to 19-9 on the year, while the Reddies fell to 14-11.

SAU took a 4-0 lead in the first-inning as the Muleriders took advantage of three walks issued by starting pitcher Scott Shimp.

Henderson cut the deficit to 4-2 in the bottom half of the frame as Zac Zdanowicz and Matt Evans led off the inning with back-to-back singles. Michael Schell advanced both runners with a sacrifice bunt, with Dustin Hudson scoring Zdanowicz on a sacrifice fly. Evans then score on a single by Ben Wainwright.

Henderson tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the second inning when Evans drove in a pair of runs on a single into right field.

An inning later, the Reddies jumped ahead for the first time as Will Powell singled to score Wainwright who singled earlier in the inning.

SAU would regain the lead in the top of the fifth inning scoring two unearned runs to go back on top, 6-5.

The Muleriders would extend their lead to 9-5 as they once again took advantage of three walks issued by the Reddies.

Brady Capshaw provided the big hit as he doubled down the leftfield line to score two runs.

The Reddies manufactured a run in the seventh and added another run in the eighth on a RBI single by Jeff Beck, but SAU scored three runs in the top of the inning to put the game away.

Evans had three hits and drove in two runs to lead the Reddies, while Zdanowicz, Wainwright and Powell all had two hits each.

The Reddies are scheduled to travel to Alva, Okla. this weekend for a three game Great American Conference series against Northwestern Oklahoma beginning Friday. However, the series may be moved to Arkadelphia and Clyde Berry Field due to possible inclement weather for northwest Oklahoma. A decision will be made later this week.
