Welcome to my itty bitty city, SEC Basketball.

Once upon a time we’d all get excited to have ya, but man if y’all aint one motley looking bunch.

Nashville is a lot like Austin in that everyone here is from somewhere else. Be careful who you talk about cause word gets around. Tried to handicap this tournament and had 2 bubble teams fighting it out in the finals. Yeah, some idiots still have UT as a bubble team, go figure. Barry Booker is slowly turning into Jimmy Dykes and that is not a good thing. Raise your hand if you saw Barry play for Vanderbilt and remember when he got his braces off.

This is the 6th time Nashville has hosted the SEC basketball tournament, and we love it. Everyone likes when Kentucky rolls in because they tip big. I wonder if they will be tipping as big this year or hoarding all the cash for NIT trip, which lets face it, is where they should be headed.

My only locks in my limited basketball viewing this spring are UT and Florida. The rest of you need to be grounded.

Who can watch basketball with the inconsistent refereeing? I’m still not over the Costello strike zone from the College World Series. Who needs the stress? Not me.

You know who else doesn’t need stress? Frank Haith.

Did you see his melt down at Columbia? It’s almost like that NCAA investigation into Miami is working his nerves. Or it could be the fact he hasn’t beaten a ranked team all year. He really just needs to have a bromance with Mike Anderson and hug it out. Maybe Mike would let him borrow a tie. I have them getting bounced by Ole Miss.

Speaking of Ole Miss, what is up with that skin head who plays from them, Marshall Henderson. Ole Miss will let anyone play. It’s a fact. See some of the people Houston Nutt let transfer in and get back to me.

It’s almost tempting to have A&M upset MizzWho, but I usually go with the high seed when in the low weeds. Dang it seems like only yesterday A&M upset Kentucky and caused such a buzz around the league. Here they are limping into the tournament as the number 11 seed.

Speaking of low weeds, South Carolina will beat out Mississippi State but only because Frank Martin bit the head off a live rooster  in a team meeting after the Vanderbilt loss.

I’ll pick Georgia over LSU only because they had some guy I never heard of as player of the year.

If you are putting 8 players on your first team SEC then isn’t some of the guys like half of the second team really on your 3rd team SEC? I’m no math major but I did pass all my chemistry classes and college algebra. That is just asinine, stop it. You can only have 5 on first team and if there is a tie then send both to the second team. Really sports logic 101.

Speaking of Vanderbilt (where full disclosure I am a season ticket holder), it pains me to say it may be time to start thinking of letting  coach Stallings go. I’d put together a package and make a run at Brad Stevens. You can’t make that fire unless you already have a great hire in your back pocket. There are tons of similarities between them and Arkansas. This team struggles too much with the talent they have. Vanderbilt has already played in Bridgestone Arena once this year but it’s not a home court advantage. Even if they have more fans they still get out yelled. I’m not going to tell you how many dirty looks I got at football games this year from blue hairs who should be at a nursing home instead of a football game.

I will heckle Gene Chiziak as much as and as loudly as I want to thank you very much. Arkansas should take this game and get a nice little road win.  Have I forgotten anyone so far?

As if it matters.

Quarterfinals: Florida over Georgia, UT over Alabama, Arkansas over Kentucky, Ole Miss over Missouri.

Here it comes,  3 bubble teams in the semi-finals just because the SEC is down doesn’t mean we’re boring.

UT over  Florida cause UT is the hottest team in the conference and plays the hardest. It pains me to say that. UT lost one of its best players, but since they aren’t Kentucky that gets overlooked, Coach Martin  kept tweaking the line-up and finally has this team hitting on all cylinders. UT will out hustle anyone. Coach Martin (UT)  should have been named coach of the year over Donovan. What is it with media loving their front runners. I don’t get it.

Arkansas over Ole Miss just because the bench is going to step up.  Forget the road record. They’ve beaten Florida, Kentucky, Missouri and Vanderbilt. They have what it takes.

UT over Arkansas in the finals.
