Walnut Ridge, Ark. – The Lady Eagles of Williams Baptist College soared to their first American Midwest Conference road victory of the season on Saturday afternoon. They edged the Lady Spartans, 59-57, at Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis, Mo.
The Williams defense held MBU to a field goal percentage of 33 percent, including 2-of-13 from 3-point range. At the same time, the Eagles shot 41 percent from the floor making 25 of their 61 shots.
Cheyenne Childers continued her scoring streak, making 10-of-16 shots from the field and totaling 22 points. She has now scored in double figures in three straight games and in five of the last six for the Lady Eagles.
Tieara Burks provided a spark for WBC off the bench with 14 points. She also contributed with four assists, four steals, and four rebounds.
The win brings the Williams record to 10-9 overall and 3-4 in the AMC. They currently sit in fifth place in the conference, one full game behind Hannibal-LaGrange University for fourth.
The Lady Eagles will continue AMC play on Thursday, January 24, at Benedictine-Springfield University. Tip-off will be at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday, January 26, WBC will return home to host Harris-Stowe University. The game will start at 2 p.m.
