Trey Finn of the Red Wolves Becomes Latest 1,000-Point Club Member

JONESBORO, Ark. (1/20/13) – Arkansas State University men’s basketball senior guard Trey Finn registered his 1,000th career point in Saturday’s (Jan. 19) 63-39 Sun Belt Conference (SBC) home victory over ULM at the ASU Convocation Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

Finn, who netted his 1,000th career point on a three-point field goal just as the clock was expiring in the first half, became the 24th individual in ASU men’s basketball program history to reach the significant scoring milestone. The ASU tri-captain finished with a game and personal season-high 17 points in the Red Wolves’ win against ULM, which included a six-for-11 shooting performance.

For his career, Finn has presently accumulated 1,007 points in 108 games for a 9.3 points per game average. The ASU tri-captain is currently six points shy of moving into a 23rd-place tie with Jabari Myles (1994-98; 1,013 career points) among ASU’s all-time scoring leaders and 18 points shy of tying Jay Hansen’s (1980-84) 22nd-place 1,025 career points total. 

This season, Finn is averaging 9.1 points per game (154 pts.) as a starter in all 17 outings played in. The 6-2, 213-pound backcourt player has tallied double-figure point totals eight times, which includes a current four-game double-digit scoring streak. Finn is averaging 14.5 points a contest (58 pts.) in his last four appearances to date.

Finn hails from Little Rock, Ark., and played his prep basketball at Parkview High School. The fifth-year senior entered this 2012-13 season as a preseason first-team All-SBC selection along with garnering preseason honors from Athlon Sports, CBS Sports.com, College Sports Madness, Lindy’s Sports, and Blue Ribbon Yearbook.

Finn and his ASU teammates are back in action this Thursday (Jan. 24) versus the Troy Trojans in Troy, Ala. A 7:30 p.m. (CT) start time is slated for the SBC contest.
