AUSTIN, Texas – The UALR women’s golf team moved up a spot in the final round to finish ninth at The Challenge at Onion Creek at Onion Creek Golf Club on Tuesday. The Trojans were led by a final-round one-over par 71 by senior Emelie Westrup, who posted a three-round total of 223 (+13) to tie for 25th overall.
Gonzaga placed first overall as a team, finishing with a total of 862 (+22). Texas State (865, +25) finished three strokes back to take the runner-up spot, while Kennesaw State (870, +30) took third place in the 13-team field.
The Trojans finished with a three-round team total of 909 (+69).
Amongst individuals, Gonzaga’s Han Wu and Texas State’s Krista Puisite finished in a tie for first with even-par totals of 210.
After Westrup, sophomore Sofia Berglund finished in a tie for 32nd after shooting a final round 78 (+8) to finish at 226 (+16) for the tournament. Junior Brynn Donovan finished two strokes back of Berglund to tie for 28th overall at 228 (+18), while senior Malin Lundberg fired a final-round five-over 75 to finish with a three-round total of 232 (+22). Junior Katie Reid finished at 242 (+32) for the tournament.
Tuesday’s final round serves as the final tune-up for the Trojans before they travel to Muscle Shoals, Ala., for the Sun Belt Championships on April 14-17.
