WBC Women’s Basketball Team Falls on Road to Lady Cougars

Walnut Ridge, Ark. – The Lady Eagles from Williams Baptist College traveled to Columbia, Mo., to take on the 18th ranked Lady Cougars of Columbia College on Thursday evening. A close contest saw Columbia edge Williams 59-55.

WBC held the Lady Cougars to 34 percent shooting from the floor and 1-of-16 from 3-point range. They also out rebounded Columbia 45-to-34. However, the Lady Cougars were able to force 24 turnovers with 16 steals.

Two Eagles reached double figures in scoring. Cheyenne Childers scored 12 and Kimberly Wise notched 10 in the contest. Chasity Hamilton and Meagan Goza each scored eight points, while leading the team with nine boards a piece.

The loss drops the Lady Eagles record to 12-10 overall and 5-5 in the American Midwest Conference. They sit in a tie for fourth place with Missouri Baptist. Williams will host Lyon College on Saturday, February 2 at 2 p.m. The game will be played in the Southerland-Mabee Center at Walnut Ridge.
