Williams Baptist College Softball Drops Game

Columbus, Ga. – The sixth ranked Williams Baptist College Lady Eagles softball squad lost against Spring Hill College by the score of 7-1 on Monday evening in Columbus, Ga.  The Williams Baptist College softball team faced the Badgers in the semifinals of the winner’s bracket at the 2013 NAIA National Championship.

The loss sends the Lady Eagles to the loser’s bracket where they will meet Reinhardt University on Tuesday at 3 p.m. CDT. 

Spring Hill was able to plate four runs in the top of the first via two home runs.  Williams threatened in the second and third innings with runners in scoring position for each, but could not get the break-through hit. 

The Lady Eagles lone run came in the fourth.  Hallie Horton singled to left-center with two outs.  Teighlor Williams pinch ran for her and scored on a Kayla Jones double off the fence in left field.

Spring Hill added a two-run home run in the fifth that was originally ruled foul by the home plate umpire before being overruled by the umpire on second base.

Williams Baptist College was held to one run on two hits in the contest. 

Williams, the sixth seed, will meet the eighth seeded Lady Eagles from Reinhardt in the loser’s bracket on Tuesday.  The Lady Eagles record is 45-8 on the season.
