Derby Commits to Arkansas as Walk On

Yesterday it was reported that the University of Arkansas Razorbacks added a big-time pickup when  Coffeyville (KA) Community College quarterback A.J. Derby (6-5, 232) announced his intentions to walk on for the Razorbacks this spring and to compete for a spot on the team.

Here is what Derby said for himself on Twitter:

Derby is a former U.S. Army All American who had offers from Iowa, Alabama, LSU, Florida, Michigan, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Wisconsin and others out of high school. He originally announced his intention to play for Hawkeyes of Iowa right out of high school, and was a redshirt in 2010, and he was moved from quarterback to linebacker in 2011 before transferring to Coffeyville Community College.

This past season he threw for just shy of 2,000 yards and 22 touchdowns. He runs a reported 4.7 in the 40.

Here is a highlight reel of him in action.
